Team Member Spotlight - Thomas
July 20, 2018
We're wrapping up our Team Member Spotlight series this month with one of our newest team members, Thomas. His experience, knowledge, and kindness has brought so much to our team!
Name: Thomas Amelio
Title: Transformation Strategist
Facebook: Thomas Shivanand Amelio
What do you do with Dream See Do?
My main focus has been writing content about transformational workshops, and I will be developing online professional trainings soon.
How long have you been with Dream See Do?
Since early May 2018.
What three things are you most passionate about (personal and professional)?
- My family; I have a big one!
- My spiritual practice which for me is an amazing laboratory of discovery, evolution, and joy.
- Teaching! I have taught meditation and spiritual practices for nearly 4 decades and I love to help others unfold their truest and fullest nature.
What book changed your life?
I love books so this is a tough one. In terms of long lasting impact “The Path of Least Resistance: Becoming a Creative Force in Your Own Life” by Robert Fritz, is a big one. It makes clear that most of us are either reacting against life’s experiences we don’t like, or responding to what comes along. Very few ask “What do I really want to create?” In a sense inventing from one’s own core. In the yogic realm “The Science of Meditation” by Swami Kripalu ( my teacher), and “The Science of Yoga” By I.K. Taimni, continue to sustain me with ever new insights.
When you aren't working, what do you love to do?
I just spent two weeks swimming, biking, and playing with my nieces and nephews which was such a joy! I love hanging with my family and friends, film, theatre, reading, etc.
Who inspires you the most?
Again I’d say my teacher, Swami Kripalu, who passed in 1981, continues to inspire me. He meditated 10 hours a day for over 30 years, doing intense yogic- energy-based Kundalini meditation. But what strikes me most was his love of truth, kindness, and service.
If you could take a trip anywhere in the world right now, where would you go (money is no object)?
I’ve always wanted to see Bali.
What are three goals that you've set for yourself this year (personal or professional)?
To take good care of my body, which I’m succeeding at! To write more, which I’m doing daily (when not on vacation!), and to create at least one online course that I lead. I teach classes regularly in the city and workshop retreats at program centers (e.g. Kripalu in Stockbridge, MA, and 1440 in Scott’s Valley, CA.) but would love to reach a global audience through online learning. One of the reasons I’m excited to work with Dream See Do.
We're so glad to have you on the team, Thomas! Be sure to check out the full series with posts on Lana, Cathy, Lindsey, Josh, and Jeremy!
